Make use of window sills

I don’t have shelves in most of our rooms, but I do have window sills!
Window sills are great ways to maximise storage space and save money as we already have them! Bonus right.
I use window sills to store pictures, plants and ornaments on pretty much every sill I have.
This way I maximize the space available without spending a penny.
Shelves aren’t just for books!
Install floating shelves or wall hooks. This will keep things off the floor and create extra storage without spending much.

Over door storage
As you can see, I love using over-the-door hooks for hanging things like a fake plant, tea towels, oven gloves, etc.
They are pretty inexpensive and easy to get hold of, these ones I have are linked below.
You can also use old bags on hooks in bathrooms for storing toiletries.
Over-the-door organisers are great for shoes, cleaning supplies, beauty products, or pantry items.
A small change can make a BIG difference!
Some cheap over-the-door storage items like this one from Amazon are great and hold loads. Fab for kid’s rooms too.

Under bed storage

In all the bedrooms in our house, we maximise storage by using the free space under beds. I don’t mean chuck everything under there and forget about it though.
I mean use old boxes or even old parcel boxes you have and store toys, shoes and toiletries there.
Invest in storage baskets or vacuum-sealed bags. You can keep seasonal clothes, extra bedding, or shoes under the bed.
It’s like a secret wardrobe!
I use these cute grey ones in the link below to store our guinea pig items and the leftover two I had for toys. I would definitely recommend these, they are sturdy and look good.
Use what you have
There’s no need to go and spend a fortune on containers or storage boxes.
To maximise storage and save money, I like to use food containers we don’t use anymore for snack bars, old baskets for dolls, boxes from parcels, and even toilet roll tubes can be helpful as pen pots.
Old crates? Turn them into shelves.
Empty coffee cans? Store kitchen utensils.

Don't waste suitcase space

I don’t know about you but if I’m lucky I can use my suitcase once a year. So the rest of the time it sits there.
I use mine to store seasonal clothing, duvets, and even Christmas gifts.
Talk about storage that saves you money, you can’t get much better than that.
Wardrobe Art
What to do with all those beautiful drawings your children have done?
There’s only so much space on the fridge, right?
Use the inside of your wardrobe door for storing your little one’s artwork. This always gives me a smile when I open my wardrobe to see this.

Reorganise

Another great way to maximise storage and save money is a good old-fashioned reorganisation. Sometimes it’s that simple.
Maybe the food cupboard isn’t being used to its full potential, swap it with your pots and pans.
Try out a few different ways till you find what works for you.
How you fold makes a difference
Folding clothes gives me such a buzz of happiness.
I even fold my pj’s. Try it.
You get home and look for your pj’s under your pillow to find a perfectly folded set waiting for you.
The way you use your wardrobe space and drawers can give or take space.
Try folding tops to stand up. That way you can see them all and it saves a massive space. You can do this with most other items too.
Above kitchen cupboards
Here are some cute and clever ways of using the space above kitchen cupboards effectively. These are maximising the space and saving money.

Sell it
Don’t be afraid to sell items that don’t give you a buzz of happiness.
Not only will this help with creating more space but will give you an extra few pennies.
My favourite sites to sell on are Vinted, FB, Gumtree and eBay.
That can be anything from unwanted gifts to clothing that no longer fits anymore.
If you haven’t used something in a year, you probably don’t need it!
Sell, donate, or repurpose items to free up space.
