Having an organised home is vital to me.
This gives me a clutter-free space and more importantly a clutter-free mind.
Struggling with anxiety and being neurodivergent means I like things to be in a particular place.
My saying is ‘Everything has a home’, it’s very simple but it is very true.
You don’t need to be neurodivergent to want an organised home and a clutter-free mind.
Being organised at home, work and digitally can reduce your stress levels, this is a fact.
A study from neurosciencenews.com says ‘60 dual-income couples found women living in cluttered and stressful homes had higher levels of cortisol (a hormone associated with stress) and heightened depression symptoms.’

Drawer storage boxes for an organised home
This is my drawer, you can see the difference between making a drawer organised using baskets and dividers to save space, keeping items organised and reducing clutter by not using drawer organisers.
Still organised and tidy but takes up more space.
You can also use storage containers in the kitchen.
Take a look at how much space I saved with these drink bottles by storing them in a container instead of leaving them lying on the shelf.
Another way of using storage containers is in your kitchen cupboard.
This gives me great joy to open my cupboards to find everything neat and organised.
Here is a list of my favourite storage boxes you can use.
Some are affiliate links, which means I will get a small commission without any cost to you.
DIY Containers
I love to use boxes from snacks and parcels to turn into storage containers to create an organised home by popping them in food cupboards for storing snacks for my children, pens and hair clips.
How to fold clothes
This video shows how I fold my clothes to keep my drawers and clothing organised and save space.
You can also use this way of folding for travel.
This way you will save space in your suitcase so that you can pack extra! Lol.
Labelling Systems for an Organised Home
Labelling containers can help not just with how organised your home is but also help identify items quickly.
I label pots of flour and pasta.
We have a milk allergy, vegetarian and gluten-free in our household so labelling makes sure no cross-contamination is going on.
Label makers like this save so much time and the outcome is awesome.
Hangers to the rescue
Using hangers to your advantage can help you use your space effectively, leave fewer wrinkles in your clothes and you can access the items easily.
I like to hang my jeans as they are quite bulky, other items of clothing I like to hang are coats, jumpers, cardigans, dresses and dungarees.
Using wooden hangers will last a lot longer and give a uniform look to your wardrobe, not essential but my personal preference.
Family Command Centre's for an Organised Home
Family Command Centres like these
are a brilliant way of keeping your family’s items organised while you wait to store them.
Use your family command centre for storing mail, schedules, timetables, letters, keys, and other essentials you need access to now.
Make a date with your command centre each week (mine is a Sunday) where you can go through it and make sure things are stored or recycled if no longer needed right now.
Your family command centre is personal to your family so it can be as big or small as you need.
DIY Family Command Centre
You can use a chalkboard or an old letter storage box, repaint, and embellishments to make it work for your family and keep you and your home organised.
This keeps papers from cluttering up worktops and your bag to being in one space where everyone can find what they need.
Here is a wonderful pin and how to create one yourself.
Cable Management for an Organised Home
If you are like me and hate all your cables tangled, mixed up, and clogging drawer space.
Get yourself a cable storage container or of course, make your own.
I have two containers, one for small cables that do not get used often and one for daily uses, like chargers.
Multipurpose Furniture
Built-in storage solutions like wardrobes are brilliant space-saving ways to get your home organised.
Using beds with drawers, don’t forget you don’t need to go and buy a bed with built-in storage, get creative and make the space to suit you and your family.
Coffee tables with drawers or containers are wonderful for storing anything from linen to toys.
At Ikea we designed our own TV unit, this also helped with storage as we could tailor-make it however worked best for us.

My Decluttering Routine for an Organised Home
Whether you declutter daily or once a year I have you covered with my 4 simple steps to decluttering.
There is a rule, you’ve probably heard of it.
One in, one out.
I personally like this rule but I can understand it’s not always practical.
At the end of each day, I like to put everything away.
Give yourself 10 minutes to tidy things away so that future you does not have to stress about it in the morning.
I think it’s just being sensible to avoid gathering things you don’t actually need.
Digital Organisation
How often do you clean your phone?
How often do you clear your phone, or laptop out?
Remove old emails, notes, large files, apps, to-do lists, unwanted pictures and videos.
Make folders on your phone/laptop to organise your files better.
Not only will your phone thank you but you will thank yourself next time you need to access something in a hurry.
The takeaway for an Organised Home

The person behind it all
I am a Mumma of three, a Wife, a Home Educator, a Blogger and lastly a Chronic Pain Sufferer.
The most common questions I get asked are “How do I get my hair curly, is it natural?” “
“How are you so organised?”
“You must be really smart to educate your children, are you a teacher?”
and lastly “What is CRPS?”
I have suffered from chronic pain since the age of 10, it has been a daily struggle ever since.
I know thousands of people suffer as I do and I want to share what helps me and my expertise in CRPS, chronic pain and more.
So, I started this blog to share my answers to those questions, journey and experiences with you. I have always been passionate about health, personal growth, and creating a balanced lifestyle for myself and my family.
Searching for ways to enjoy life in a minimalistic way, be part of my children’s education and reduce stress and pain as a whole is important to me.
