I love reading and I love a range of different books from educational to crime fighting.
Below I have shared with you my favourite 15 books that you need to read too.
Some are affiliate links.
Period Power
Period Power by Maise Hill is one of my favourite books and I only found it last year.
It is one of these books you wish your mother had read.
Packed with no-nonsense advice, facts and brilliant ways to get to know yourself in a way you never have before.
I ranted and raved about this book after I read it and loads of my friends went and bought it, just through how much it had helped me.
This book isn’t just for females or for people who have ‘regular’ cycles.
You won’t regret this purchase.
Your child is not broken
Your child is not broken by Heidi Mavir
Recently I discovered my daughter was on the spectrum.
I did so much research, speaking to others and professionals about what to do and what this meant for her and for us.
Along the journey, I realised I am also on the spectrum.
This brilliantly written book has been a wonderful insight for my husband and me to read.
Heidi talks about her son’s story and how things changed for her too. This is a very relatable and heartfelt story.
Life changing magic of tidying up
Life changing magic of tidying up by Marie Kondo
I’m sure you have seen this before and maybe seen the Netflix programme she has done too.
I came across this book in the library once and thought that looked good I’ll take a look.
Being organised and tidy is important to me and sometimes a bit of an obsession.
I prefer a simplistic style home deco and Marie Kondo has changed so much for me.
This book was brilliant and so I had to buy it.
I then went on to read her other books and watch her show.
She is just such a beautiful person who really shows you what life is really about.
Wolf
I love Mo Hayder, and I love all her books.
The ones I have listed are when Detective Inspector Jack Caffery is called in to investigate certain crimes.
Mo Hayder does do some which DI Jack Caffery is not in but in my opinion, the Jack Cafffery books are brilliant!
If you are into crime books, these are a must, you won’t be able to put them down.
I picked this one in particular because this was also made into a BBC programme that you may have seen.
Some others that Mo Hayder has written are:
Birdman (first one)
The law of innocence
The law of innocence by Michael Connelly
This is a great book and so are the others in the series.
All about a defense attorney Mickey Haller – The Lincoln Lawyer, as you may have seen on TV.
He is smart, gorgeous, funny and brilliant at getting himself into trouble and getting others out of it.
Mini Philosophy
Mini Philosophy, a small book of big ideas by Jonny Thompson
This was one we found at the library and my husband and I read together.
It makes you question things without it being too heavy or negative.
The book asks…
Why do people enjoy watching scary movies? Should we bet on the existence of God? Why is pleasure better than pain? And when is a duck, not a duck?
Find out in this fascinating read.
The organised mom method
The organised mum method by Gemma Bray is a brilliant read and a great look into real life with children.
I wanted to read this as I was struggling to maintain a routine with being a mum, having chronic pain and home-educating my children.
Gemma Bray has helped thousands just like me find a way to manage life as well as a home.
If you are like me and have tried it all and nothing is working, try this book.
Get Even
I really enjoy Martina Cole’s books.
Books that take too long to get into things wind me up so I loved this straight away as it was jam-packed full of heartbreak, betrayal, mystery and murder.
Troubled Blood
Troubled Blood by Robert Galbraith
This book is massive!
I absolutely loved this so much, I honestly could not stop reading this book.
My husband always found me reading this. lol
If you love Private Detective books then this is for you.
Cormoran Strike, a PI is a brilliant character and has a lot of troubles.
He has a wonderful business partner, Robin who has also had a tricky life.
This one is one of the last books but I would recommend starting from the beginning.
You may have also seen this on TV.
Overcoming Chronic Pain
I have struggled with chronic pain since I was 10.
Always on the lookout for more tips, self-help and ways to learn what is happening and why.
Learning is a passion of mine and this book helped me so much in understanding more about my pain.
If you suffer too, give it a go. I also have some other support to offer here.
Broken Souls
Broken Souls by Patrica Gibney
Patrica Gibney writes like no other author I know.
These are set in Ireland.
One of these books where you think I loved it but it was terrifying.
Written to keep you on the edge of your seat. She has a whole set but this was my favourite….so far.
Wabi Sabi
This book is so inspiring and really makes you view the world in a different light.
Beth’s journey and insights are so beautiful.
Wabi Sabi is a refreshing way of viewing our fast-paced, consumption-driven world.
Beth encourages you to slow down, reconnect with nature, and be gentler on yourself.
A mindfulness guide for the frazzled
A mindfulness guide for the frazzled by Ruby Wax
This hilarious view of Ruby wax’s world and her journey with mental health is refreshing and nuts.
She talks about meditation and what we all are thinking but not saying.
Ruby is very clever but clearly struggles just like a lot of us do.
A very light-hearted but practical self-help book.
Hinch yourself Happy
Hinch Yourself Happy by Mrs Hinch
I have to admit this is a bit of a guilty pleasure for me.
I actually really enjoyed reading this and it wasn’t what I imagined it would be.
Mrs Hinch is very down-to-earth, caring and funny.
She clearly wants to help others by sharing her passion and knowledge of products, not to mention her obsession with products, which I found hilarious and quite relatable.
You are a badass
When I first started this book I wasn’t sure about it.
Jen is very honest and maybe a little bossy, a strange thing to say about a book, I know.
She is clearly very passionate and sees the world in a different and interesting way.
There are some very funny and brilliant ways for you to try out.
Jen brings your inner awesomeness out of you.

The person behind it all
I am a Mumma of three, a Wife, a Home Educator, a Blogger and lastly a Chronic Pain Sufferer.
The most common questions I get asked are “How do I get my hair curly, is it natural?” “
“How are you so organised?”
“You must be really smart to educate your children, are you a teacher?”
and lastly “What is CRPS?”
I have suffered from chronic pain since the age of 10, it has been a daily struggle ever since.
I know thousands of people suffer as I do and I want to share what helps me and my expertise in CRPS, chronic pain and more.
So, I started this blog to share my answers to those questions, journey and experiences with you. I have always been passionate about health, personal growth, and creating a balanced lifestyle for myself and my family.
Searching for ways to enjoy life in a minimalistic way, be part of my children’s education and reduce stress and pain as a whole is important to me.
