Being Organised: The Simple Secret to Unlocking Your Best Life

Let me share something I’ve learned about being organised.

Being organised isn’t about perfection or having a Pinterest-worthy home.

It’s about feeling in control of your life, even when things get a little crazy.

Life is a lot. Work, family, friends, errands, goals, dreams, and that never-ending pile of laundry.

It can feel like juggling flaming swords while trying to balance on a tightrope.

But when you’re organised, it’s like switching on a light in a dark room.

Suddenly, you can see clearly. Prioritise, and move through your day with purpose instead of chaos.

How did I become organised?

I’ve always been the “organised one.” Even as a kid, I loved making lists, keeping my room tidy, and knowing exactly when things were happening.

Back then, I didn’t realise how much those habits would help me as an adult.

But now, I can confidently say that being organised is the reason I feel calm, less stressed, and way less overwhelmed. No matter how busy life gets.

The best part?

Because I’m organised, I can actually live in the moment.

I don’t waste energy worrying about what I forgot or scrambling to finish things last minute.

Instead, I can enjoy my time with family, focus on my work, and even just sit and relax without feeling guilty.

I know not everyone feels naturally organised, but here’s the good news.

Anyone can do it!

You don’t need to be born with it or spend hours creating a fancy colour-coded system.

All it takes is a few simple steps to get started.

Three tips for being organised

You start small.

Setting reminders on my phone, using a to-do list, and giving myself 10 minutes a day to get things in order works for me.

Doing this means, you won’t be constantly apologising for forgetting things. Or scrambling at the last minute for a birthday present.

You will have time to breathe.

You will be amazed at how much being organised will free up your energy.

When you’re not constantly putting out fires or wondering what you’re forgetting, your mind is clear to focus on what really matters.

Your goals, your relationships, and yes, even that book you’ve been meaning to read.

Now, I’m not saying I’ve got it all figured out.

There are still days when life feels overwhelming (I mean, hello, we’re all human). But having an organisational system, even a simple one, makes it so much easier to get back on track.

If life feels like a mess right now, start small.

1. Write It All Down

Whether it’s a to-do list. (my favourite by the way) and one you can download for FREE.

Appointments, or random ideas, get them out of your head and onto paper (or into your phone).

When you write things down, you free up brain space and stop worrying you’ll forget something.

I use a notebook for daily tasks and my phone calendar for important and everyday tasks and dates.

It’s simple but keeps me on track.

2. Make a Plan (But Keep It Flexible)

Each morning, I spend five minutes deciding what needs to get done that day.

I pick my top three priorities and tackle those first.

Of course, things don’t always go as planned. I am a home-educating mum of two and one on the way. But having a basic roadmap helps me stay focused.

And if something unexpected pops up, I just adjust.

3. Tidy as You Go

This one’s a game-changer!

Instead of letting things pile up, I clean and organise in little bursts.

For example, I’ll put away dishes while I’m cooking or tidy the lounge while the kettle is boiling.

It takes seconds but saves me from that overwhelming feeling of facing a giant mess later.

These habits might seem small, but they’ve had a huge impact on my life.

Bee's Final Thoughts

Being organised gives me the gift of calm.

I can handle busy days without feeling overwhelmed. I have more time to do what I love because I’m not constantly playing catch-up.

If you’re feeling scattered or stressed, try one of these steps.

Use that planner you bought but haven’t touched.

Every little step adds up.

Being organised isn’t about having a perfect system.

It’s about building habits that help you show up as the best version of yourself.

It’s your secret weapon to feeling confident, capable, and ready for whatever life throws your way.

Organisation isn’t about being perfect. It’s about creating a little space in your life for peace and happiness.

Trust me, you’ve got this. One sticky note at a time. 😊
