What is a slow life?
In a nutshell, a slow life is completing activities in a leisurely time, and being mindful of what and how you do things.
It is encouraging you to stop rushing around and burning yourself out, but instead, take time to be aware of what you are doing and how you are doing it.
Why should I live a slow life?
Leading a slow life can have huge benefits on our mental health, physical well-being, general happiness and connection to ourselves and others too.
As humans, we seem to rush around all the time believing that if we never stop and keep going we are better people, somehow living a better more fulfilled life.
Is this really true? I don’t think so.
Don’t worry I burn myself out too but I do ask what for, don’t you?
We are more stressed, getting physically unhealthy as well as developing conditions that could be avoided.
Struggling with intimacy, isolation, anxiety, depression and the list just goes on doesn’t it?
Why are we doing this to ourselves when we could slow down and instantly change our lives? The million-pound question right?
The benefits of having a slow life can change your life, maybe even save it!
How to live a slow life
When you wake up what is the first thing you do?
Maybe it’s checking your phone, laptop or watch.
You are missing it all because you haven’t noticed the beauty at that moment.
Birds singing, sunlight streaming between the curtains.
Sounds of movement in the house or maybe silence, the coolness or warmth, your partner next to you.
The feeling of your skin on the sheets or the stale air coming through your nostrils?
If when we woke up we lay there for a minute, just taking it all in, we would be being mindful, being in the moment, being present.
Doing this sets you up for the day.
This releases a calmness through you and a focus that helps you see the world in a different way, I know it does for me.
Even just doing this each day you would notice the benefits.
If you are at home and wish to make it cosy, natural, warm and snug then you can make the most of the natural light.
There isn’t anything more natural than using what Mother Nature has provided us is there?
You may wish to use more natural furnishings, your own art, less is more approach, plants and of course, only keep what makes you happy.

How often when you get a chance to sit down or stop do you reach for your mobile? Or put the TV on?
We seem to be relying on the need to be stimulated all the time.
It is ok to not do anything, you are not lazy, what you are doing is prioritising yourself and others.
The old saying of you can’t give from an empty bucket.
This is so true. We burn ourselves out and just expect to keep going without consequence.
When it comes to food, you may be able to grow your own in the garden or an allotment.
This can be incredibly rewarding and you are literally grounded, you can’t really get more grounded, right? Lol
Gardening is so therapeutic.
Even if you just remove the weeds, you are outdoors!
An added bonus is that you can enjoy the reward of a weed-free driveway or garden.
Not to mention the satisfaction you have had by doing this yourself.
Again this releases positive hormones and increases the positive ways we communicate with ourselves.
Living a slow life doesn’t necessarily mean doing less but more about your awareness of yourself, others and your life.
Taking time to connect with yourself or with others, without technology can be liberating. Give it a go.
Go for a walk, say hello to someone walking past you, just take a seat on a bench and people watch (my all-time favourite thing to do)
Taking the time to do these things can have a huge impact on you and others.
People will start to notice that you are calmer, more present, listening, happier, and less prone to anger and this sort of slow living is infectious.
Remember to choose what is important to you, what makes you happy and choose time, because you can’t get that back.

The person behind it all
I am a Mumma of three, a Wife, a Home Educator, a Blogger and lastly a Chronic Pain Sufferer.
The most common questions I get asked are “How do I get my hair curly, is it natural?” “
“How are you so organised?”
“You must be really smart to educate your children, are you a teacher?”
and lastly “What is CRPS?”
I have suffered from chronic pain since the age of 10, it has been a daily struggle ever since.
I know thousands of people suffer as I do and I want to share what helps me and my expertise in CRPS, chronic pain and more.
So, I started this blog to share my answers to those questions, journey and experiences with you. I have always been passionate about health, personal growth, and creating a balanced lifestyle for myself and my family.
Searching for ways to enjoy life in a minimalistic way, be part of my children’s education and reduce stress and pain as a whole is important to me.
