Hi there, fellow mums!
Let’s face it, being a mum is the most awesome job in the world, but it’s also one of the busiest.
I am a home-educating mum of two and one on the way.
Between school drop-offs, meal preps, work deadlines and everything in between. Finding time for yourself can feel impossible.
But guess what? You deserve to be a priority too.
This year, let’s commit to self-care. Not just as a luxury, but as a necessity.
This is important if you are a seasoned mum like myself or a first-time mum.
It doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming.
Little things can make a big difference.
Let me share some tips to help you carve out “you time” in your busy schedule.
Enjoy and don’t forget to comment at the end, I love hearing from you and subscribe to get access to FREE printables, newsletters, the latest posts and more.

Quick and Simple Self-Care Ideas
1. Squeeze in Quick Exercises You don’t need an hour at the gym to feel good.
Take a look at my home workout post which includes with or without equipment.
Start your day with 10 minutes of pilates or yoga. Even a quick dance party in the kitchen, while the kids eat breakfast, can lift your mood!
If you can, take a short walk in the fresh air, it’s a double win for your body and mind. Even if you don’t feel like it, try and get out as it will help even if you don’t feel it will.
2. Create a “Me-Time” Calendar Set aside at least 15 minutes a day for yourself.
Treat it like an important appointment that can’t be missed.
I know when you have a newborn or toddler, even going to the toilet alone is hard.
It could be a hot bath, a quiet moment with your favourite book, or a DIY face mask. Adding it to your calendar makes it feel real.
3. Journaling for a Clearer Mind Take a few minutes to write down your thoughts.
Not sure where to start?
Use prompts like:
-
What made me smile today?
-
What’s one small thing I can do for myself tomorrow?
Journaling can be a powerful tool to organise your thoughts and reflect on what’s important.
Try these cute notebook designs to make you smile and make journaling easier.

Mindfulness on the Go
Sometimes, all it takes is a deep breath. Literally.
I have RLS and CRPS these are chronic pain conditions and my breath is my biggest tool in dealing with my pain.
I have trained myself to be more mindful every day and to use meditation every night.

My complete guide to self-care: Mind, Body and Soul
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, try this:
-
Breathe in deeply for four seconds.
-
Hold your breath for four seconds.
-
Exhale slowly for six seconds.
Repeat a few times, and you’ll feel calmer.
Apps like Calm or SmilingMind (which is free) can also help if you’re new to mindfulness and meditation.
You Deserve This
Self-care isn’t selfish, it’s essential.
We are not equipped to deal with motherhood and all that life throws at us if we don’t take care of ourselves. It’s a bit like putting your oxygen mask on first before your children’s.
You are no good to them dead. You get the gist.
When you take care of yourself, you’re better able to care for your family too.
This New Year, let’s promise to make ourselves a priority. I know I am a better person, mother, wife and friend when I take care of myself.
Start small, be consistent, and celebrate your wins, no matter how tiny they seem.
