What is Happiness?
To me, happiness is a feeling of joy, contentment, and warmth.
It’s that fuzzy feeling you get when you’re doing something you love. Maybe it’s spending time with people who make you smile.
I get this feeling when I spend quality time with my girls and husband.
How does happiness feel to you?
Scientists study happiness to understand what makes us feel good and how we can feel happier more often.

Living a joyful life for ourselves and others
Our brains play a big role in how we feel and see happiness.
When something good happens, our brain releases chemicals called endorphins and dopamine. These chemicals make us feel happy and excited.
When you buy a new outfit or eat your favourite food, your brain releases these chemicals. Unfortunately, this is short-lived.
We also see happiness in others through their expressions and actions.
Notice how when someone smiles or laughs, it can make us feel happy too. This is called emotional contagion, where we catch the emotions of people around us.
A bit like a yawn.
Ways to live a joyful life
There are many simple things we can do to feel happier and joyful every day. Here are some ideas:
1. Spend Time with Loved Ones: This is my favourite pick-me-up. Being with family and friends can make us feel loved and supported. Play games, have meals together, or simply talk and laugh. My eldest daughter has an infectious laugh and always makes me feel joyful.
2. Get Moving: Exercise is a great way to boost happiness. Go for a walk, ride your bike, or play your favourite sport. Moving your body releases those happy chemicals in your brain. I love to do a workout first thing in the morning, this changes my outlook instantly.
3. Practice Gratitude: You know me, always looking to meditate or look at how grateful I am. Think about the things you are thankful for. Write them down in a journal (try this one) or share them with someone. This helps you focus on the good things in your life.
4. Helping Others: Doing something nice for someone else can make you feel good too. Help a friend with a task, do a chore for your parents, or volunteer in your community.
5. Learn Something New: Trying new activities or learning new skills can be exciting and fun. It keeps your mind active and gives you a sense of accomplishment.
6. Take Breaks and Relax: Make sure to take time to relax and do things you enjoy. Read a book, draw, listen to music, or just sit quietly and breathe.
We don’t realise how important self-care is. Take a look at: How to make mindfulness and self-care a priority in your life.
The Science Behind a Joyful Life
Researchers have found that our happiness levels can change based on our actions and thoughts.
By doing positive activities and thinking positively, we can actually train our brains to be happier.
It’s like exercising a muscle – the more we practice, the stronger our happiness becomes.
How awesome is that?!

The person behind it all
I am a Mumma of three, a Wife, a Home Educator, a Blogger and lastly a Chronic Pain Sufferer.
The most common questions I get asked are “How do I get my hair curly, is it natural?” “
“How are you so organised?”
“You must be really smart to educate your children, are you a teacher?”
and lastly “What is CRPS?”
I have suffered from chronic pain since the age of 10, it has been a daily struggle ever since.
I know thousands of people suffer as I do and I want to share what helps me and my expertise in CRPS, chronic pain and more.
So, I started this blog to share my answers to those questions, journey and experiences with you. I have always been passionate about health, personal growth, and creating a balanced lifestyle for myself and my family.
Searching for ways to enjoy life in a minimalistic way, be part of my children’s education and reduce stress and pain as a whole is important to me.
