Need a cleaning hack for busy couples?
Then look no further. Follow these tips and you will have a clean house with as little as 30 minutes of cleaning a day.
Busy couples struggle with finding time to clean their house, cook, play with their kids, take care of pets and spend time together. It’s exhausting, right? We as a family are no different but this works.
Mini Monday
Living room, hall and stairs
30minutes
- Tidy up
- Clean windows and blinds
- Dust
- Clean skirting
- Under stairs cupboard
- Hoover under sofa and under cushions
- Hoover floor
We are a busy family, so we need a cleaning hack for busy couples, and this is what works for us.
Firstly I want you to know I clean my bathrooms, and hoover/sweep downstairs daily.
Mondays are not everyone’s best day and so with that in mind, I like spending 30 minutes max, hence the name Mini Monday.
A quick tidying of the living room, hallway, landing and stairs.
Don’t move things from one spot to another, make sure you put things away.
If they don’t have a home, consider decluttering. Here is my post on decluttering in 4 simple steps.
Step 2, cleaning windows and blinds. This may not need to be done every week. I clean my blinds each week but my windows every other week.
Each time you enter a room to dust, make sure to dust clockwise. This way you don’t miss anything and you won’t flit around the room wasting time.
Strip it Tuesday
Bedrooms
45 minutes
- Tidy up
- Strip beds
- Rotate mattress
- Remake beds
- Clean mirrors
- Dust
- Clean skirting
- Hoover
Strip it Tuesday includes the children’s bedroom too.
The best part of this cleaning hack for busy couples is, that I have taught my 8 and 6-year-old to strip their beds themselves and I remake them. This saves a lot of time.
Rotating your mattress doesn’t need to be done every week. I do this every other week.
If you have a new mattress then you may be required to rotate every week for a certain amount of time.
You may want to split Strip it Tuesday into two 15-minute sections instead of doing it all in one go.
My favourite part of Strip it Tuesday is not only having fresh sheets and new pj’s but how plumped up my quilt seems to be when I slip into bed at the end of a busy day. Buzzing.
Cleaning skirting boards can be done with a hover as my husband prefers or a damp ecloth which I prefer.
All products I use are linked at the end.
Worktop Wednesday
Kitchen
45 minutes
- Tidy up
- Dust
- Microwave
- Oven
- Washing machine
- Dishwasher
- windows and doors
- Clean skirting and kickboards
- Hob and splashback
- Cupboard fronts
- Toaster
- Cutlery drawer
- Fridge
- Bin
- Sink and plugs
- Hoover and Mop
Thorough Thursday
Bathrooms
30 minutes
- Toothbrushes in mouthwash
- Spray Viakal
- Cupboards and shelves
- Sink
- Clean mirrors
- shower/bath
- Toilet
- Toilet brush
- Skirting
- Hoover and mop
Thorough Thursday is my favourite day so I do this job.
Gather everyone’s toothbrushes and using a large glass, fill 3/4 with mouthwash and another 1/3 of water. I love this cleaning hack because I leave the mouthwash to do all the work for me. Work smarter, not harder right?
Pop all the toothbrushes in head first.
Leave them for a few hours. This helps clean out the gunk on our toothbrushes. This is such a brilliant hack.
When cleaning bathrooms, I like to remove everything from shelves and cupboards.
Doing this means I can give them a good wipe-down before replacing things at the end.
You will be amazed at how grim they get. Bathrooms need to be as hygienic as possible right?
I have an electric cleaning brush (which looks like a toothbrush) which is awesome at tackling hard-to-reach areas on taps, shower heads and toilets.
Using Viakal is a staple for Thorough Thursdays because it leaves everything so sparkly.
It works brilliantly on limescale and tough-to-clean areas.
Do make sure you read the instructions before use though.

Tidy Friday
Whole house/specific area
30 mins
I like to target certain areas in the house that I ran out of time to do in the week. For example the kitchen or the children’s bedroom.
Or if I managed to achieve what I needed to for each day then I spend 30 minutes on a Friday tidying up, hence the name Tidy Friday. lol
This is probably why Tidy Friday is my husband’s favourite day.
I go from room to room having a quick tidy up. Everything needs to have a home.
Weekend
Garden /Garage
30 mins
I like to spend my weekends with family and friends.
I still hoover downstairs and clean the bathrooms (takes 5 minutes and I have three)
Having a chance to get in the garden to sweep, weed or maybe plant some bulbs can be a great way to do something together as a couple or a family. Just be sure to set your timer for 30 minutes.

The person behind it all
I am a Mumma of three, a Wife, a Home Educator, a Blogger and lastly a Chronic Pain Sufferer.
The most common questions I get asked are “How do I get my hair curly, is it natural?” “
“How are you so organised?”
“You must be really smart to educate your children, are you a teacher?”
and lastly “What is CRPS?”
I have suffered from chronic pain since the age of 10, it has been a daily struggle ever since.
I know thousands of people suffer as I do and I want to share what helps me and my expertise in CRPS, chronic pain and more.
So, I started this blog to share my answers to those questions, journey and experiences with you. I have always been passionate about health, personal growth, and creating a balanced lifestyle for myself and my family.
Searching for ways to enjoy life in a minimalistic way, be part of my children’s education and reduce stress and pain as a whole is important to me.
