Let’s be real, keeping a house clean with kids running around is no easy task!
With three little ones, my home can go from spotless to a disaster zone in minutes.
But I’ve figured out a few tricks that help me stay on top of the mess (most of the time!).

I Embrace the “Good Enough” Clean
I used to aim for perfection, but I quickly realised that with kids, that’s just not realistic. Not if you want to stay sane, anyway.
I used to make myself stressed, exhausted, and miserable, and most importantly, I would miss out on bonding with my children. All because I thought I needed to have the cleanest, tidest home.
All the time.
Instead, I focus on keeping things tidy rather than magazine-cover perfect.
If the floors are swept, the dishes are done, and we’re not stepping on LEGO bricks, I call it a win!
I Get the Kids Involved
Even young kids can help with chores!
Take a look at my popular kid’s free rewards to help you with chores and rewarding your kids without money.
My little ones have their own simple tasks, like putting toys away and doing the recycling.
It’s not always done perfectly, but it teaches responsibility and lightens my load. Plus, they make it fun by playing music or racing to see who can clean up the fastest.
I Stick to a Routine...Sometimes
As amazing as I am, I am human. This means that some days, I struggle with keeping on top of things.
Shocking, I know.
However, having a daily and weekly cleaning routine helps keep things manageable.
I do quick daily resets (morning and evening) to keep clutter from piling up.
A quick hoover of downstairs and cleaning the bathrooms get done daily.
The washing gets put on overnight, so it’s ready for me to hang out in the morning.
I Declutter Often Because I love it!
Less stuff = less mess!
If you are a regular reader, you know how much I hate clutter, and I am always looking to sell or declutter.
Every few months, I go through toys, clothes, and random junk that seems to multiply overnight.
If it’s broken, it goes to the tip or bin. Outgrown or never used, I will sell or donate.
Take a look at my 4 simple steps to decluttering to find out how I declutter regularly.
Keeping only what we truly need makes cleaning so much easier.
Give it a try, you will love the results.
I Clean as I Go
Instead of letting messes pile up, I try to clean little by little throughout the day.
If you are not around during the day, then do a quick tidy up of each room morning and night.
This small step just helps it from all becoming too overwhelming.
Dishes get washed while I cook.
Toys get picked up before moving on to the next activity.
Don’t forget that kiddies can help with this.
And I do a quick tidy of each room morning and night.
Bee's Final Thoughts I give myself grace
Some days, the house is spotless…. Well, nearly.
Other days, it looks like a tornado hit. And that’s okay!
Life with kids is messy, and I’ve learned not to stress over every little thing.
I am so much calmer and happier now that I’ve learnt to let go. I can be present with my kids, and that brings me so much joy.
As long as my home is safe, comfortable, and filled with love, that’s what really matters.
Remember, your kids won’t grow up thinking, Wow, my house was always clean. They will grow up thinking of all the fun family adventures they had with you.
Keeping a clean house with kids isn’t about having a perfect home. It’s about finding a system that works for your family.
