Rainy days don’t have to be boring!
Sure, you might not be able to go outside and play. But that just means it’s the perfect time to get creative, cosy, and playful indoors.
Whether you have little kids, tweens, or teens, there are plenty of fun things to do together as a family.
Here are some great ideas to make the most of a rainy day!
Enjoy and don’t forget to comment at the end, I love hearing from you and subscribe to get access to FREE printables, newsletters, the latest posts and more.

Build a Blanket Fort
There’s something magical about building a fort with blankets and pillows.
Grab some chairs, drape blankets over them, and create a cosy hideaway.
Add fairy lights or flashlights for a warm glow, and bring in snacks and books to make it extra special.
We even watch a movie snuggled in our fort, what will you do?
Get Baking
Rainy days are perfect for baking!
We love baking in our house so any excuse to get the whisk out.
Give this tasty carrot cake a go. Don’t forget to tag me on social media with your creations.
Try making cookies, cupcakes, or even homemade pizza.
Kids of all ages can help mix, decorate, and, of course, taste-test!
Do an Indoor Scavenger Hunt
Create a list of items for your kids to find around the house. Or print this one for FREE.
Make it more exciting by adding riddles or clues that lead to a small prize at the end.
Get Crafty
Bring out the crayons, pens, glue, and paper!
Our favourite rainy days activity. What’s Yours?
Whether it’s painting, making friendship bracelets, or creating DIY decorations. Crafting is a great way to let everyone’s imagination shine.
Have a go at these cute easter crafts.

Have a Dance Party
Blast your favourite tunes and have a dance-off!
Let each family member take turns choosing songs.
Bonus points if you come up with a fun family dance routine!

Play Board Games or Card Games
Dust off your board games and enjoy some friendly competition.
Games like Monopoly, Uno, and Charades are great for all ages.
Read a Book Together
Snuggle up and read a book as a family.
If you have younger kids, do voices for the characters. If you have older kids, try reading a mystery or adventure story together.
Try Science Experiments
Take a look at the science experiments that we do.
Make a volcano with baking soda and vinegar or create slime.
There are tons of easy science experiments you can do at home that will wow your kids.
Write and Perform a Play or Puppet Show
Let the kids create a story and act it out.
You can even make sock puppets or use stuffed animals for a puppet show. It’s a great way to encourage creativity and teamwork.
For older kids try downloading the free Stop Motion app to create a story. This is great fun for everyone.
Cook a Meal Together
Let the kids help plan and cook dinner.
They can mix ingredients, set the table, and learn some cooking skills along the way.
Have an Indoor Picnic
Lay out a blanket in the living room, make some sandwiches, and enjoy a picnic. My children love indoor picnics.
Plus no bugs or bad weather to worry about!
Do a Puzzle Together
Pick a big jigsaw puzzle and work on it as a team.
It’s a great way to bond and challenge your problem-solving skills.
Write Letters or Make Cards
This keeps my kids entertained for hours.
Have your kids write letters to grandparents, cousins, or friends.
You can also make homemade special occasion cards to send to loved ones.
Create an Obstacle Course
Use pillows, chairs, and tape on the floor to set up a fun obstacle course.
Challenge each other to see who can complete it the fastest!
Rainy days don’t have to be dull, they can be filled with laughter, creativity, and quality family time.
So next time the rain starts pouring, grab your blankets and gather your family.
Make the most of the cosy day inside!
