10 Fun Valentine’s Day with Kids Activities

Craft Your Own Valentine Cards.

I personally don’t like or understand spending money on cards. If you do like giving and receiving cards then forget store-bought cards.

Grab some paper, felt tips or pencils, glitter, and stickers and make your own!

We do this for all our special occasions. Birthday’s Christmas, Easter etc.

Encourage your kids to create cards for family members, friends, or even neighbours. It’s a simple way to teach kindness while having fun.

Bake Heart-Shaped Goodies.

We love baking in our household so any excuse to bring out the aprons and let the kids be chefs for the day!

Make heart-shaped cookies, cupcakes, or pancakes. Decorating them with pink and red icing (and maybe some sprinkles) is half the fun.

Host a Family Movie Night.

Set up a cosy space with blankets and pillows. Grab some popcorn, and watch Valentine-themed movies.

Plan a Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt.

Hide heart-shaped clues or sweets around the house for a fun and interactive hunt. Each clue can lead to the next, with a special treat waiting at the end!

Have a Love-Themed Storytime.

Gather your kids’ favourite books about love and friendship. Like, Guess How Much I Love You. Reading together is always a sweet way to bond.

Make Friendship Bracelets and Handmade Gifts.

Teach your kids to create colourful bracelets with beads and string. They can wear them proudly or gift them to friends. Have your kids make gifts like painted rocks, photo frames, or homemade candles. Handmade presents show love and creativity all in one.

Create a Love Jar.

Grab an empty jar (we use clear jars that have had pasta bake sauce in) and fill it with little notes of love and gratitude. Everyone can write what they love about each other and read them aloud after dinner.

Decorate the House Together.

Cut out paper hearts and string them into garlands. Blow up red and pink balloons. Let your kids’ creativity shine!

Play Valentine Bingo.

Make your own bingo cards with Valentine’s Day symbols. (hearts, cupid, chocolate) and use sweets as markers. A fun game for all ages!

Throw a Mini Valentine’s Day Party.

Invite a few friends or keep it just family. Set up snacks, music, and activities like face painting or a dance-off to celebrate the day.

Valentine’s Day Traditions to Start with Your Kids

Traditions make these occasions feel extra special. Here are some easy ones to begin:

Gratitude Lists.

Every Valentine’s Day, sit down as a family and write a list of things you’re grateful for. Share your lists at dinner, and maybe even keep them in a special box to read the next year.

Annual Family Photo.

I love family photos. Take a photo together each Valentine’s Day, dressed in themed colours (red, pink, white). Over the years, you’ll have a collection of memories to look back on.

A Love-Themed Meal.

Turn dinner into a Valentine’s feast. You can serve red or heart-shaped foods. Think spaghetti with tomato sauce, heart-shaped sandwiches, or strawberry smoothies.

“Heart Attack” Decorations.

Every year, surprise your kids by decorating their bedroom doors. You can make paper hearts that say why you love them. It’s a simple gesture that will mean the world to them.

Acts of Kindness Countdown.

In the week leading up to Valentine’s Day, challenge your family to do one kind thing for someone else each day. It could be helping a neighbour, writing a thank-you note, or donating to a local charity.
